Ridgewood Pool Capital Fundraising Campaign

The first priority of the Ed Nebbins Foundation is to rebuild Ridgewood Pool—a vital community asset in southwest Madison, and home to the Foundation. The pool’s sixty-year legacy is currently in jeopardy. With all-original structures that are twenty years past their initial life expectancy, a structural or mechanical failure that is beyond repair is imminent. Without substantial intervention, the pool will cease to exist, having a detrimental effect on its surrounding neighborhoods.

A New Ridgewood Pool for the Next 60 Years

Our beloved Ridgewood Pool—home to the Ed Nebbins Foundation—was built in 1958 through the hard work and commitment of a community who wanted a place to come together and learn the life skill of swimming. A place they could enjoy for generations.

The founding members of Ridgewood Pool achieved all they set out to do and more. Today, Ridgewood Pool is a vital community asset, having taught thousands of children to learn to swim. And Ridgewood’s very presence is a source of strength and stability in an area where it’s greatly needed. But today, the pool is in jeopardy.

All original pool structures are still in place, with an initial life expectancy of 30-40 years. Now, nearly 20 years beyond, a structural or mechanical failure that is beyond repair is imminent. Without substantial intervention, the pool will cease to exist, having a detrimental effect on its surrounding neighborhoods.

Take a behind-the-scenes look at the pool’s current structure, and hear why it is such an important place for so many families.
