Our Mission
The Ed Nebbins Foundation strengthens families and neighborhoods on Madison’s southwest side and neighboring communities by supporting the life-saving benefits of swimming in partnership with Ridgewood Pool, a vital community asset.
A new pool for the next 60 years
The Ed Nebbins Foundation cannot achieve its goal without the “gem of the neighborhood” — Ridgewood Pool. Built in 1958 by the very community it still serves, the pool has far outlived the life expectancy of its original structures — all of which are still in place. There is an urgent need to renovate the entire facility, including both pools, the dive well and the changing facilities.
The Story of Ed Nebbins
So who is Ed Nebbins, and what does he have to do with swimming? He is the boy who inspired a community to come together and build a place where children could learn the life skill of swimming. A place they could enjoy for generations.
